Understand Your Prostate Health,
And Avoid Prostate Problems

Your prostate health deteriorates as the male body ages, and produces smaller quantities of the sex hormone required to keep the gland function properly. This marks the beginning of a problematic prostate. The gland is now unable to function adequately, because of reduced nutrients. We will show you how to replenish those nutrients. But first you should understand how the prostate functions.

What is the prostate?

The prostate gland is an important male sex gland, about the size of a walnut, located beneath the urinary bladder. Its structure is viewed as a zone anatomy, consisting of four zones: Anterior, peripheral, central and transition zones.

Its function, together with those of its partners - testes and seminal vesicles, is to store and add nutrients and other fluids to the sperm during ejaculation. These fluids also provide protection for the sperm.

A typical ejaculation produces about 2 cc to 3 cc of semen, with sperm accounting for approximately 1 percent. The prostate and its partner the seminal vesicles supply about 98 percent of the total ejaculation. This function makes the prostate gland an integral part of the sexual reproduction process. Your prostate health is considered to be in good shape when the gland is functioning at the level described above.

Problems of the prostate

Before the male reaches 40 years, the body produces large quantities of the sex hormones needed to keep the gland functioning in a healthy manner. But, as you grow older, these nutrients dry up. Production of sex hormones is reduced to drastically low levels, causing the prostate to become malnourished.

This lack of nutrients affects the functionality on the gland. Without adequate nutrients, prostate infections are inevitable, and your prostate health begins to decline.

Gradually the prostate becomes enlarged because of a cellular breakdown within the gland. The weakening of the cellular structure, which provided the mixing of fluids necessary for reproduction, puts your prostate health, and ultimately your sexual health, at risk.

Poor cell interfacing or communication between cells of the prostate is believed to be responsible for many of the diseases and problems of the prostate gland.

By age 65 most American males have enlarged prostates...

Enlargement is caused by reduced production of testosterone, the major male sex hormone. As the prostate enlarges, it presses on the urethra -- the tube through which the urine and semen flow, reducing the flow of urination and ejaculation -- causing sexual dysfunctions. This condition is commonly referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH). This is the first sign of failing prostate health.

Testosterone and Estrogen levels...

The male produces large amounts of the hormone testosterone, and only small amounts of estrogen, the female hormone. As you get older and produce less testosterone, the estrogen production remains at its normal level.

Researchers believe BPH is attributed to this higher level of estrogen in the gland, unregulated because of decreased testosterone levels, contributes to cell grow.

Enlarged prostate constricts urine, and leads to prostate infections that spread to the bladder and kidneys. Tumors also develop because of rapid multiplication of cells.

Inflammation of the prostate...

A condition known as prostatitis, is mostly caused by bacteria. There are three types of prostatitis… acute, chronic and noninfectious. Acute and chronic prostatitis are bacteria related, but non-contagious.

These are treatable with strong antibiotics. Bacteria do not cause noninfectious prostatitis. In fact, the cause is unknown. Noninfectious prostatitis is therefore not treatable with antibiotics. Prostatitis is also believed to be cause by complications associated with gonorrhea.

Symptoms of the Prostate

The symptoms of BPH are very vague initially, and most males tend to overlook them as something that would pass. At the first sign of any of the following symptoms you should discuss it with your physician...

  • Painful urination
  • Multiple trips to the bathroom at night
  • Having problems getting your stream to start
  • The feeling you still want to urinate after urinating
  • Reduced sexual drives

The symptoms of prostatitis are similar to those of BPH, with the following exceptions…

  • Painful ejaculation
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Lower back pain (between scrotum and anus)
  • Chills and vomiting (acute conditions)
  • Fever
  • Constipation

This bacterial infection should be treated immediately with antibiotics to restore your prostate health.

The symptoms of BPH will become progressively worst if they are not treated. The sooner you seek treatment, the greater your chances of avoiding the swollen gland turning cancerous.

A cancerous prostate could inevitably lead to invasive debilitating surgery, unpleasant chemotherapy, and eventual death. So take control of your prostate health now.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States...

Studies have shown that 90% of prostate cancers are not detected until they pass the stage of being treated. As you age, there is no way to prevent the prostate from growing larger. But you can slow down its growth before the first symptoms appear (about age 40).

Talk to your doctor NOW about your prostate health, and avoid this pitfall as you grow older.

Prostate Treatment

For many years people have used pumpkin seeds, saw palmetto, and stinging nettle to alleviate the symptoms of BPH. An analysis of these products shows they have one common ingredient for controlling BPH. And that ingredient is Beta-sitosterol.

Beta-Sitosterol taken in doses of 300mg 2 to 3 times a day can relieved painful urination, increase the flow of urine, reduce the number of nightly trips to the bathroom, restore your prostate health, and increase your sex drive. It will also normalize your cholesterol levels too.

Infection or inflammation of the prostate can be treated with various antibiotics. Some treatments can continue for three to four weeks, or longer depending on the severity of the prostate infections. Most infections are cause by bacteria, although there is a noninfectious prostatitis not treatable with antibiotics.
